The problem of these fibers was that they would split up, thus showing an unnatural wear pattern. In search for a more natural wear pattern, the first monofilament, the HPF Fiber, was born. It was composed of separate fibers with little post fibrillation instead of fibrillating fibers. 1990, HPF Fiber, 6600 dtex
In 1995 the HPF Fiber was improved in several ways: • Desso Sports Systems obtainted a grass-like structure for optimal resilience of the fiber; leading to better grip and water permeability. • Invention of blockcopolymer; combination of Polyethylene and Polypropylene as to make the wear pattern horizontally instead of vertically. This has led to an absolutely non-fibrillating fiber. 1995, DD Crown Fiber, 8800 dtex
